Monday "Make and Take" - Hershey Kiss Match Up

Give me an "M!"

M!!!!

Give me an "O"

O!!!!!

Give me an "N"

N!!!!

Give me a "D-A-Y"!

D-A-Y!!!!!!

I guess I'm still hyped up from the Super bowl!  Hope you all had fun celebrating and watching the game.

I'm even more excited because today is:

Now, we all know Valentine's Day is next week, and I don't know about you, but as far as craziness goes - Valentine's Day celebrations were even crazier than Christmas celebrations in my classroom.

So, hopefully today's "Make and Take" will help keep a little craziness at bay while still allowing students to have fun AND learn/review.

Ready?  You only need two things for this "Matching Kisses" make-and-take game:

The purple colored Hershey kisses were perfect for Valentine's Day!!

Since this is a matching game, I chose to do 1/2 of the match in pink and its matching partner in yellow, that way a student knows that they have to match a pink to a yellow sticker.  For younger kids, you can even have two different color kisses, one with a purple wrapper, and one with the traditional silver wrapper to make it easier for them to make a match.

(But let's be honest, I don't even need ONE bag of kisses in my house, let alone 2 bags for different color options, so I opted to keep just one color and buy only one bag :) )

If you decide to do two different colors of kisses wrappers, you could make one section with one color, and another section with another color of kisses

To play, students pick up two different kisses, looking for a match.  I did equivalent fractions for my match up game, so 1/4 is a match for 2/8.  Students would then keep the match in their own pile.

Here are some other options to use this game for:

I created a recording sheet (available at the bottom of the post) for students to record their matches as they play this game:

So, you have my permission to go out and buy chocolate... a large bag of Hershey Kisses to use next week for Valentine's Day!

(I was gonna save this game for next week's "Make and Take" - but I wanted to give you plenty of time to make and use the game....annnnnd eat the extras :) )

Now for the REAL reason I had my husband buy this bag of Hershey Kisses on his way home from work...

What a super cute idea! I can use it for an articulation match up too! Who doesn't enjoy chocolate? I'll make sure it's ok with the school nurse first. Cute!

This is brilliant! I am going to change it up a bit and have short vowel and beginning consonant sounds and the kids will have to come up with a word (Kindergarten class), but I love the possibilities with this! THANKS!
